	On page 24 of the Heritage Project Case Study you will find the following situations described which will have contractual and financial claims:

	 
	&bull;&nbsp;Contractor submits claim for delays in August because you failed to issue drawings when you went on holiday 
	&bull;&nbsp;Contractor submits claim for extension of time and costs due to flooding 
	&bull;&nbsp;Contractor submits claim for progress payment for goods which are not delivered to site 
	For the first two items describe how you will respond to the claims. For the third item, explain what steps should be taken before you certify payment for goods that have not yet been delivered to site

	You must be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the main elements of well structured contract administration. The assignment must be based on a typical GCC2010 form of contract and you must use the Student Notes as a reference.

	1.&nbsp;Describe the activities and procedures to be carried out by the engineer during the period starting on the date acceptance of the tender until the date on which the contractor is given access to the site.

	2.&nbsp;List the four contractual formalities which must be completed by the contractor before he/she is given access to the site.

	3.&nbsp;Describe the essential elements of handing the site over to the contractor.

	4.&nbsp;Explain why it is important to ensure that construction drawings, documentation and information are timeously issued to site and identify at least five fundamental methods of ensuring that this process takes place correctly. Your response should include reference to the process of issuing and recording of drawings.

	5.&nbsp;Describe your responsibilities regarding the inspection and assessment of samples and products as well as the approval of shop/working drawings.</td>
