You may be excused from attendance for reasons such as illness, supported by a registered doctor's certificate, or family events.</li> <li>You are required to communicate non-attendance with reasons to your Facilitator.</li> <li>A record will be kept of your presence at or absence from all online sessions.<br /> <br /> </li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Students, Facilitators, BCE Mentors, Programme Convenors and Module Convenors, and members of the School of Consulting Engineering (SCE) should at all times treat each other with mutual trust and respect. All parties must at all times avoid:</strong> <ul> <li>Use of offensive and obscene language is forbidden</li> <li>Attending any online sessions under the influence of alcohol or drugs;</li> <li>Use of cellular phones during online sessions.<br /><br /></li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Students should at all times:</strong> <ul> <li>Avoid noise and disruption of another student's studies.</li> <li>Respect another student's privacy.</li> <li>Behave and conduct themselves in a manner which reflects respect and dignity accorded to their profession and fellow students.</li> <li>Abide by the policies and procedures of the SCE and of CESA.<br /> <br /> </li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Assignments and Activities</strong> <ul> <li>Assignments and activities must be completed within the specified timeframes;</li> <li>Any excerpts sourced from elsewhere for an assignment must be highlighted and the source referenced;</li> <li>It is expected that workplace and homework is carried out individually unless otherwise requested by the BCE Mentor; e.g. group work assignments and or activities.</li> <li>Should students work in a group, the name of their colleagues must be indicated and all work must be included with this reference in each learner's Portfolio of Evidence<br /> <br /> </li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>The Dangers of Collusion </strong><br /> <br /> While it is to be expected that students engaged in a programme such as the Business of Consulting Engineering will feel the need to, and will benefit from, collaboration and consultation with each other, it must be emphasised that students are required to conduct themselves in an ethical manner and with integrity, as befits the profession. <br /> <br /> This means that the submission of assignments, reports and the like needs to be taken seriously. Unethical collusion and submission of work under the student's name, and which work is not that of the student, is strictly forbidden. Any evidence that a student has submitted work which is not of his/her own creation and which has thereby delivered a false message to CESA will be deemed to be proof of collusion and intention by the student to commit a misrepresentation to CESA. <br /> <br /> Such collusion can constitute a fraudulent act, which can result in expulsion of the guilty student from the programme and sanction of the student who knowingly permitted his/her work to be used in this manner. <br /> <br /> Students are advised as a precaution to state in their submissions where work by another person is quoted or referred to, and to acknowledge the author of such work.</li> </ol> <p><strong>Any student who violates this Code of Conduct may face termination from the Learning Programme.</strong></p> </td> </tr> </table> </body> </html>
