				CBE &amp; Competitions Commission (CC) – CESA 
				participated in a meeting this month between the CBE and the CC 
				to further discuss the IDOW policies. We are happy to share with 
				you that the parties appear to be converging on the matter such 
				that we may yet get to the point of being able to amend the 
				legislation governing our professions, where professional 
				registration would become mandatory in the future.
				Strategic Infrastructure Projects – &nbsp;CESA 
				participated in &nbsp;the NEDLAC discussions between Business, 
				Government, Labour and Community representatives on the 
				Strategic Infrastructure Projects in the last week of August as 
				part of the B4SA Team focusing on the infrastructure development 
				processes that are being targeted to facilitate the economic 
				recovery of South Africa. We have raised several issues, most 
				importantly being the need for speed, without laying fertile 
				grounds for corruption. We believe that more detail on the 
				processes and the projects will be forthcoming in due course and 
				will share such information with members as soon as this becomes 
				available.

		Projects in neighbouring African countries – CESA 
		was invited to participate in discussions facilitated by Deloitte with 
		Dti, DBSA, IDC &amp; ECIC in attendance to discuss how the SA Inc. approach 
		might be strengthened, much like that of other countries, especially 
		when project funding contributions are made by these respective 
		countries. As you may be aware, CESA was integral to the formation of 
		the Bult Environment Professions Export Council (BEPEC) which has run 
		aground due to financial difficulties. We are, however, resolute in our 
		pursuit to lobby for the increased support for organisations such as 
		BEPEC which have a key role to play in the export strategies related to 
		the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) as they relate to 
		South African companies being positioned to benefit from funding made 
		available to other countries for Infrastructure Development by South 
		African Development Institutions and Investment Banks.
		‘Construction Mafia’ – CESA is a key participant in 
		ongoing discussions with SAPS to address issues around extortion and 
		violence on construction sites. We have to this end entered into a 
		collaboration agreement with SAFCEC, SAICE and MBSA on the matter. 
		Member companies are encouraged to at all times to report such incidents 
		that might have affected their employees and equipment so that they may 
		be able to obtain official case numbers at local police stations. We 
		need you to share these case numbers with us as part of the reporting 
		and further crime intelligence activation processes contained in the MoU 
		we are finalizing with the SAPS.

				ECSA 2020 Guideline Fees – On 13 Aug 2020, 
				CESA disseminated the draft Guideline to members for direct 
				comment to ECSA by 11 Sept 2020, however CESA is also preparing 
				a coordinated response/comment to ECSA, in our own right and we 
				have already held two of three planned coordination meetings in 
				this regard. Any members wishing to submit comment for inclusion 
				in the CESA response should email their comment to

		CESA Model Professional Services Agreement &amp; Specific Data, August 2014 
		– Revision of this CESA Form of Agreement has been completed after 
		comment by the CESA Supply Chain Management Committee. The next step is 
		to send the document for printing.

		Online contract documents – CESA has recently 
		contracted with Fresh Projects who are hosting the CESA Forms of 
		Agreement on their website at&nbsp;

		digital CESA Contract Documents (in addition to those on the ‘Contracts

		contracts for their projects and are able to digitally customise their 
		contracts and download a unique project-linked encrypted PDF.&nbsp; 
		Additionally, the tool supports the online creation of Contract Details 
		(e.g. Specific Data, Scope of Services, etc) via an easy to use 
		interface.

		documents are the JBCC Small &amp; Simple Works Contract, Edition 1.0 – May

		Forum Meeting - The HR Forum took place on 7th August 2020 with 
		74 online participants comprising mostly of HR practitioners as well as 
		some directors and managing directors in attendance. The focus of the 
		meeting was an open discussion on how companies are dealing with the 
		COVID-19 pandemic, changes within HR processes due to remote working, 
		and the successes and challenges that have arisen from remote working.&nbsp; 
		The next HR Forum meetings will take place on the 25th September 2020 
		and the 13 November 2020. The agenda is yet to be confirmed.&nbsp; If
