				Passing of Solly Gerald Stoch – We were moved to recently 
				learn of the passing of Gerald in March when we received his 
				obituary, which when you consider the history of the industry 
				and its many Presidents since its founding in 1952, makes for 
				interesting reading,

	Affairs Queries – As an illustration of the value of membership, 
	often not shared frequently enough, we have for the first time started

		New Public Procurement Bill (PPB) – We are busy 
		collating comments from the CESA Supply Chain Management and the Quality 
		Risk &amp; Sustainability Committees to submit as official CESA comment to 
		National Treasury. The deadline has been extended to end June 2020. 
		Member firms are welcome to add their comments to the CESA submission if 
		they wish. If you do comment, kindly reference your comment with the 
		relevant clause numbers. Kindly

		PROCSA – CESA has appointed Messrs Stef Riccardi and 
		Johan Piekaar of CKR and WSP respectively as our representatives on the 
		Professional Consultant Services Agreement Committee (PROCSA) in place 
		of the late John Truter. CESA is grateful to them and their firms for 
		their contribution and we wish them well in their new roles.
		The task team established by CESA to revise the Scope of Services for 
		the Fire Engineering discipline has completed its work under the 
		leadership of Craig Clarke, which will shortly be submitted to the 
		PROCSA Committee.
		ECSA Fee Guidelines – As reported previously, the 
		process of developing the new ECSA guideline fees has been severely 
		disrupted by the national Lockdown, however CESA has persisted with our 
		reminders to ECSA to recommence with the process as planned.

		hosting bodies for the FIDIC, NEC, JBCC &amp; GCC suites of contracts as

		Practice Notes – The revision of the CESA Practice 
		Notes (PNs) is ongoing and is now in the editing phase, with 64 PNs 
		having been revised, 13 PNs being archived (obsolete), 13 PNs proof-read 
		and 15 PNs awaiting revision.
		CESA Model Professional Services Agreement &amp; Specific Data, 
		August 2014 – This popular Form of Agreement is awaiting final 
		comment thereafter future steps include proof reading and publication.
		Contract documents – With the introduction of Level 
		3 and the opening of our offices on 2 June 2020, the sale of paper 
		copies of the contract documents will be available. The contract

		Scammers using Treasury’s Central Supplier Database (CSD) 
		– A member firm has reported receiving scam mail incorporating data 
		extracted from the CSD and has advised other members to be on the alert 
		for such mail, <a href="http://www.cesa.co.za/uploads/Document4.docx">

		reminded that CESA will wherever possible assist with advice pertaining 
		to procurement issues, roles and responsibilities, the ECSA Fee 
		Guidelines &amp; Scope of Services, contract documentation, and PI issues

		Capacity Initiatives - Retired Engineers and Unemployed 
		Engineering Practitioners databases - Members are reminded that 
		CESA has established these databases on our website to provide a

		-your preferred online, industry specific, CPD training providers - 
		We are pleased to announce the launch of our e-Learning training 
		platform on the 10th June 2020, in conjunction with CPD On-Demand™ 
		Service. TheSCE e-Learning platform has been designed for Professionals 
		in the Built Environment enabling them to have access to various types 
		of CPD activities, in ECSA’s Category 1 and Category 3, from home or 
		office, including:

			<li>Virtual classroom 
		training courses (1 - 3 day online courses) </li>
			<li>Training Videos for 
		24/7 viewing</li>

		</ul>
		In keeping with ECSA’s outcomes-based requirements for acquiring CPD 
		credits via e-learning, the participants will be required to complete a 
		multiple-choice quiz at the end of each CPD activity and achieve at 
		least a 75% pass mark, however, they will be given 3 attempts to achieve 
		this mark. A CPD certificate will only be emailed once this has been 
		achieved. &nbsp; BCE Development Programme - The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on 
		the CESA Business of Consulting Engineering Development Programme. 
		Notwithstanding the enormous challenges which we all face, CESA is 
		positive that this year’s programme will be successfully completed 
		online via Zoom without any loss of value. The programme has been 
		revised, with a new approach which may be a model for the future 
		delivery of the BCE Development Programme. To overcome these challenges, 
		the programme will now run over a 10-week period, rather than condensing 
		it into a one-week contact session as has traditionally been done. This 
		has made it easier for both firms and &nbsp;their students. The sessions have 
		already started and take place on a Tuesday afternoon (± 4 hours) per 
		week via Zoom with each session comprising 2 or 3 presentations.
		WEBINAR SERIES: CORPORATE GOVERNANCE IN THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR vs 
		COVID-19 - This four-part, weekly webinar series taking place from the 
		18th June will cover how COVID-19 could impact the rights and 
		obligations of directors, and the liability it could have in relation to 
		holding a position of directorship in a company, in the context of 
		breach of contracts, during, or as a result of, COVID-19.

		CESA Aon Engineering Excellence Awards: Further extended 
		deadline for Call for Entries - 18 June 2020 - A decision has 
		been taken to further extend the deadline for the pre-entry submissions 
		into the CESA Aon Engineering Excellence Awards to the 18 June 
		2020. &nbsp;As a result of this extension the full Awards 
		submission deadline will now be the 30th July 2020. 
		In addition, we are in the process of re-evaluating the cost for entry 
		into the awards, with a reasonably reduced fee, to assist members during 
		this challenging period and will inform you of the revised pricing for 
		entries prior to the 18th June 2020. The Awards function will be held 
		towards the latter part of the year and is planned to be hosted in a 
		different but equally exciting format as is the customary high standard 
		for this flagship event in our industry. &nbsp;
