	Membership and Constitution Review Workshop and AGM
		On the 15th November the Board and Council of CESA met to discuss 
		membership criteria in the face of an evolving business landscape. The 
		discussion centred around the changing landscape of business and the 
		increasing need for diversification. Consulting Engineering companies 
		are finding themselves moving away from the traditional engineer-owned 
		and managed business focusing on design and construction supervision and 
		offering value adding services such as infrastructure advisory services 
		and maintenance management services.
		Retired Engineers &amp; Mentors - We are pleased to 
		announce that we have expanded our database for Unemployed Graduates to 
		include the contact details and CVs of Retired Engineers &amp; Mentors. The 
		database will now include practitioners from both ends of the spectrum, 
		being those starting out and others available to give back to the 
		profession. Links to these databases will be provided once the format 
		has been finalised.
		ECSA VA Certificate - We are proud to announce that 
		we have received our Certificate of Recognition as a Voluntary 
		Association (VA) from ECSA for the period 2018 – 2023.
		Latest feedback on IDoW - Feedback on progress, or 
		lack thereof, is contained in the latest CBE Bulletin

		are aware this is a critically important matter as it involves the legal 
		definition of Engineering Work without which the EPA is largely 
		unenforceable.
		CESA Infrastructure Indaba 6 - 7 March 2019 - The 
		CESA Infrastructure Indaba is once again being held in Durban on the 6th 
		and 7th March 2019 at the Durban ICC. &nbsp;The two-day conference will bring 
		together leading experts including government officials, consulting 
		engineers and built environment professionals for the purpose of 
		improved delivery and management of public infrastructure. Please 
		diarise these dates; further details will be supplied in due course.
		On behalf of the Board, we thank you for your loyal membership of 
		CESA and wish you all a safe, relaxing and happy festive season and 
		remind you that our offices will be closing on the 21st December 2018 
		and re-opening on the 7th January 2019.

	National Stakeholder Forum (NSF) On the 4th October 2018, CESA 
	attended a preparatory meeting for the NSF that is scheduled to take place 
	on the 23 November 2018. The NSF has been established in terms of Section 13 
	of cidb Act 38 of 2000 to inform the cidb Board and Department of Public 
	Works Minister on matters that affect the development of the construction

	 CESA Firms win IMESA/CESA Excellence Awards - At the 
		awards evening held in PE on 30 October 2018, Royal HaskoningDHV won the 
		award for the ePhatheni Water Supply Scheme for the uMgungundlovu 
		District Municipality in the category for 'Community Upliftment &amp; Job 
		Creation', while In the 'Engineering Excellence in Structures and 
		Civils' category, the winners were Royal HaskoningDHV, Knight Piésold 
		Consulting and Naidu Consulting joint venture for the Western Aqueduct 
		Project for eThekwini Municipality.
		SMEC celebrates Global Project of the Year Award - 
		Besides winning the Best International Project Award at the 2018 
		CESA-Aon Excellence Awards, the SMEC-designed three-span cable stayed 
		rail bridge for Sydney Metro Northwest in Australia, has also been named 
		the 2018 Global Project of the Year and Best Rail Project by the 
		prestigious Michigan based ENR publication. For the second year in a 
		row, SMEC SA was also recognised as the winner in the Infrastructure and 
		Maintenance Category of the 2018 National Business Awards.
		BVi Consulting Engineers is proud to announce their 
		Level 1 B-BBEE status once again after the company was re-certiﬁed Level 
		1 this year on the 23 October 2018 by veriﬁcation agency, Renaissance SA

	 New IMESA President - Mr Randeer Kasserchun was 
		sworn in as the new president of the Institute of Municipal Engineering 
		of Southern Africa (IMESA) at their conference in PE on 31 Oct 2018. 
		New SAICE President - The South African Institution 
		of Civil Engineering (SAICE) has inaugurated&nbsp;Brian Downie&nbsp;as the new 
		president of the institution, he is the 116th president of SAICE since 
		the inception of the institution in 1903 and his theme for 2019 will be 
		“It’s a new world”, focused on education, entrepreneurship and 
		employment, which are all vital issues for the country.
