The SAPS Crime Intelligence Unit has requested that we support its efforts in tackling this problem by encouraging our member firms to report instances of disruption to your local police station and to pass on the case numbers to CESA, we will in turn relay such information to them. Members are requested not to rely only on contractors reporting these cases but to report these cases themselves as well, where their companies have been directly affected. We would like to encourage members to see the bigger picture by ensuring that they follow through as requested and not be disheartened by the inaction by local law enforcement personnel.</p> </td> </tr> </table> <p><strong>Strategic Infrastructure Projects (SIPS) </strong>- Arising from the SIDSSA (Strategic Infrastructure Development Symposium SA) process held in July 2020, DPWI has identified fifty projects which are ‘shovel ready’, <a href="http://www.cesa.co.za/uploads/43547gon812.pdf"> click here</a> for a listing of these projects.</p> <p><strong>ECSA IDOW: Scope of Services </strong>–<strong> </strong>On the 3 July 2020 DPWI gazetted ‘The Scope of Work for categories of registration for the professions regulated by ECSA. This is a positive development towards regulating who should be allowed to do Engineering Work and who not, <a href="http://www.cesa.co.za/uploads/ECSA_-_SCOPE_OF_SERVICES.pdf"> click here</a> for more information. This is a positive development towards the long-awaited amendment of the Engineering Professions Act which will make registration compulsory in the future.</p> <p><strong>Market Intelligence on Projects</strong> - CESA will be tracking information on projects from various reputable bodies from time to time. The intention is not to alert companies to tender opportunities as these are already available on the National Treasury e-Tender Bulletin and other service providers in the market, but rather to try to provide insights into Project opportunities that may arise in the future based on the stage in the development that projects may be at. CESA has received confirmation from the ECSA CEO that the draft Guideline Fees will be circulated for public comment prior to being finalised.</p> <p><strong>Supporting municipalities towards improved service delivery and wiser spending</strong> - The recently released Auditor-General’s report on the latest municipal audit results does not paint a good picture for spending and service delivery on the part of South Africa’s local governments. However, it is not all bad news for our municipalities. CESA has stepped up to the plate in recent years to assist and advise municipalities on sounder and more effective project procurement, planning and implementation processes.
