<h3>APPLICATION FOR APPROVAL OF A CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) ACTIVITY</h3>
<p>Thank you for enquiring about registering your training event for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points with ECSA, via Consulting Engineering South Africa (CESA). Herewith please find the policy, procedures and the application form.
</p>
<h3>TRAINING PROVIDER REQUIREMENTS:</h3>
<p>
A Training Provider requiring to train in the engineering industry and requiring CPD points, must conform to the following:

<ol>

<li>Training provider must complete the application form and submit it electronically.

<li>Once you have received our invoice by email, this must be paid before the evaluation process can take place.  (See Cost Structure on page 2)

<li>Either hand deliver or courier:- one hard copy and a CD, DVD or USB Flash drive of all the training material, including PowerPoint presentation and handouts, that will be used at the training event The CD or DVD will be used as the archive copy.

<li>On approval of the training material, you will be sent the CESA logo and the CPD validation numbered. Both the CESA logo and validation number must appear on:
<ul>
<li>Cover page of all marketing material

<li>Cover page of the training material

<li>Registration form

<li>Attendance register

<li>Attendance certificate
</ul>
</ol>


<p><b>After each Training Event:</b><br>

<ol>
<li>Training Provider must either send or email a signed copy of delegate's attendance register to the SCE after each training event.(cpd@cesa.co.za<mailto:cpd@cesa.co.za> / P O Box 68482, BRYANSTON, 2021)

<li>Training Providers must allow the delegates to evaluate the training event. The Training Provider must then either send or email the evaluation forms to the SCE after every training event. (<a href="mailto:cpd@cesa.co.za">cpd@cesa.co.za</a> / P O Box 68482, BRYANSTON, 2021)

<li>If any delegates experience the course in a negative light then the Training Provider must submit a corrective action report to the Manager of the SCE.
</ol>

<p><b>Please Note:</b><BR>
<ul>
<li>A sample of the training events evaluation forms must be included with the training material.
<li>Should the provider wish to enter into a joint venture with the School of Consulting Engineering, they will be asked to enter into a separate agreement with CESA
</ul>
</p>
<h3>VALIDATION PROCESS:</h3>

<ol>
<li>Once the SCE has received the payment and the training material, the Manager of the School will identify a specialist in the course's specific field and send it for validation.

<li>The specialist  will assess the training material and fill out an evaluation form and either 'approve', 'make comments for improvement' or 'reject'.

<li>Once approved, the Manager of the SCE will allocate CPD points and a validation number to the successful training provider. (In line with ECSA best practice).

<li>A confirmation letter, a certificate and the CESA logo will then be sent to the successful applicant.
</ol>
</p>
<p><b>Note:</b><br>
<ul>
<li>This process can take up to 4/6 weeks to complete.

<li>Should your material be rejected by the specialist, the option is available to re-submit for which the normal levy will be charged.

<li>School of Consulting Engineering reserve the right to withdraw the validation at any time.
</ul>
</p>

<h3>EVALUATION CRITERIA:</h3>


<p>
Material will be evaluated accordingly:
<ol>


<li>Does the activity serve to enhance the knowledge, skills and competence of all those who participate in it?

<li>Does it meet an educational and developmental need and provide an effective learning experience for the participants?

<li>Is the depth and breadth of the subject matter appropriately covered?

<li>Is there an evaluation form attached for obtaining feedback from participants on the course and does it provide for rating of the relevance, quality and effectiveness of the activity?

<li>Are the objectives of the course clear?

<li>Does it have defined intended outcomes?

<li>Appropriateness of method of presentation?

<li>Does it address the anticipated benefit to the target group and to the profession as a whole?

<p><b>Note:</b><br>
<p>This process will take time out of the specialist's normal day to day activities and a levy is charged for this process <u>irrespective of the outcome of the evaluation.</u></p>



<h3>VALIDATION NUMBER:</h3>



<p>A validation number will be allocated to all approved training providers specific to the approved course.</p>

<h3>VALIDATION PERIOD:</h3>

<p> The duration of the validation period will be 3 (three years) unless specified differently.</p>



<h3>DISPUTE:</h3>

<p>If a dispute should arise then the SCE Technical panel will resolve the issue. (A formal letter and supporting material must be submitted by the parties involved prior to the dispute). If the school committee fails to reach a resolution then the matter will be referred to ECSA.</p>
