<td><p>It is widely understood that South Africa’s economy is set to be a casualty in the fight against COVID-19, with the built environment industry caught in the crossfire. There is an urgent need for activity in the sector, however, this plea goes back to pre-pandemic days. <td><p>Nelson Mandela International Day is an annual international day in honour of Nelson Mandela, celebrated each year on 18 July, his birthday. The day was officially declared by the United Nations in November 2009, with the first UN Mandela Day held on 18 July 2010. In 2020, the day fell on a Saturday, presenting the CESA Young Professionals Forum with the opportunity to give back to society outside of normal working hours. Aimed at students and graduates, the ‘67 minutes of Engineering Mentorship’ event was held on video conferencing platform, Zoom. </p>

Properly executed, virtual/online training courses have shown that they can be just as effective as the in-person classroom experience. Thanks to modern communications technology, the trainer can address multiple delegates at once, from multiple geographies, in real-time.</p>
