Dear Sir,
I have been fully involved in the multi engineering disciplines ie mechanical, electrical and control systems in design, in construction, commissioning and operation of processing factories (i.e. process and heavy engineering) for the last 30 years plus. I believe I am well suited to multi-disciplined engineering management posts.
PGBI/DRA my last full time employers ceased to operate in the engineering manangement business due to world wide economic down turn and the resultant decrease in suitable business and for the last 3 years or so I have been involved in the process design and construction of food processing plant upgrades in South Africa as part of the PGBI Project team.
I am a South African, born on the 1/11/1950, married and in good health with two sons, both of whom have completed post matric educations and are currently employed in South Africa.
A summary of my working experience and academic qualification is in the table below followed by some clarification of the table.

During the period of time I worked with PGBI/DRA I was involved with numerous large projects, a number of which required construction management after the design, process and costing procurement phases had been completed. Two such projects were the Illovo Sugar refinery plant upgrade at Pongola and the expansion and rationalisation of a beer production plant in Gutang, each in excess of R80 million to complete.
I was employed by Techserve Engineers & Consultants (Pty) Ltd as the Technical director. My duties include the indirect management of the projects department which included feasibility studies through to project hand over to the client. The direct management of the sugar process engineering design including energy and mass balances department as well as the sugar manufacturing equipment design and supply department which included the design drawing office. Travel was a part of this job with frequent trips out of the country to India, Far East, Africa, South America and Europe. The last major project completed by Techserve Engineers & Consultants (Pty) Ltd. after being appointed by the chairman of the Lam Son Sugar factory as the project consultants was the total management of the factory $50 million expansion which included all engineering and process design as well as the construction management of the expansion of the Lam Son raw and refined sugar factory from 4000 tons of cane per day to 8400 ton of cane per day.
I was employed by TSB Sugar International at their Royal Swazi Sugar Corporations two sugar factories as the Manufacturing Project Manager. During my stay in Swaziland a number of major and minor projects were complete at the 2 factories. These projects included the design, construction, commissioning and budget control of the following projects,
Bulk lime supply facility
Complete injection water pump station, reticulation piping and multiple cell cooling tower.
Conversion of 3,3KV factory HT reticulation system to 11HV
New 25 MW power station (relocation of 2 off turbo alternators and the addition of a new unit)
New deaerator and feed water station for boiler plant of 350 tons steam per hour capacity.
New boiler 150 ton per hour high pressure boiler
Complete new bagasse conveying system.
Upgrade refinery from 20 ton/hr RSO to 35 ton/hr RSO including control systems upgrade and plant automation
New 25000 ton white sugar conditioning tower
New 150,000 ton per year sugar packing plant
The total value of these projects was over R450, 000,000.00
Previous to my employment at RSSC I spent 33 months working for Fletcher Smith Ltd Derby as the project manager for the rationalisation and expansion of the Mumias sugar factory in Kenya. This contract project included the design, installation and commissioning of a complete new 10,000 ton of cane day diffuser, new evaporator station, power house upgrade (new 10 MW back pressure Turbo alternator) and raw sugar process house upgrade. (New centrifugals, sugar dryer and syrup clarifier) A great deal of this projects focus was to develop best practises and to promote a continuous improvement culture within the expanded plants staff.
I spent 7, 5 years with Hulett Aluminium in Pietermaritzburg during which time I was promoted from plant engineer mechanical to the senior operational management position of Rolling Manager, hot and cold rolling divisions. This high-Tech plant operated with a highly unionised work force. Many of the performance development techniques such as Kaizan, JIY, continuous improvement and quality management systems were and are effectively practised with commitment and enthusiasm at Hulett Aluminium.
During the 6 six years I spent at RSSCs Simunye sugar factory I was promoted to chief engineer after a brief stay as the plant engineer responsible for the operation and maintenance of the mills, boilers and power production.
At the time Simunye was a relatively new factory and the only major project carried out during my stay was the installation and commissioning of 10 MW fully condensing turbo alternator, which the company purchased from an English paper manufacturing company and shipped to Swaziland.
I am computer literate and familiar with micro soft programs including micro soft project and autocad, I am completely familiar with FIDIC forms of contract.
I am happy to supply references should they be required.

Yours faithfully,

T R Warnock.
