<td><p>The final two CESA Presidential Branch webinars for the year were recently hosted by our President Sugen Pillay. First up was the KwaZulu-Natal Presidential Webinar on Tuesday, 25 August where guest speakers included eThekwini Municipality’s Head of Catalytic Projects, George Mohlakoana and SANRAL Eastern Region Manager, Dumisani Nkabinde. In his presentation, Mohlakoana explained the city’s vision in terms of infrastructure development and also outlined how they were going about implementing their plans. Nkabinde also spoke about SANRAL’s action plan and outlined the different projects they were embarking on as they connect different towns and cities through improvements to the road network. </p>

<p>The Limpopo and Mpumalanga Branches’ Presidential Webinar took place on Wednesday, 16 September. The welcome remarks were delivered by CESA Limpopo Branch Chair, Livhu Motabatshindi who welcomed online attendees and introduced the speakers. Discussing infrastructure investment was David Metelerkamp, Senior Economist at Industry Insight. Metelerkamp mentioned that many projects have been in the pipeline for years and may not be as ready for implementation as government claims. He also stated that Mpumalanga and Limpopo are expected to be the best performing provinces because they are driven by civil engineering projects. </p>

<p>We were also joined by Layton Leseane, the Project Manager for SANRAL’s Northern Region who discussed the outlook on road network investment. Leseane spoke about the different projects they are undertaking to improve the country’s road network. He also stated that they had increased capacity of the procurement unit by employing additional human resources to clear the backlog in procurement.</p>

<p>In both webinars, President Sugen Pillay spoke about his message “2020 - a time for reflection, renewal and regeneration’. He also acknowledged guest speakers and attendees who had taken time out of their busy schedules in order to contribute in these discussions.</p>
