<td><p>CESA president, Sugen Pillay hosted a series of Presidential Webinars where our theme and strategic intent for the year was presented to local media, member firms and their construction and infrastructure clients. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, our president would visit the different branches and physically interact with the different stakeholders. This year we are hosting them online. In the past few week, two webinars with four branches were successfully held over Zoom.</p>
<p>The Gauteng and North West Presidential Webinar was held on 1 July 2020. President Sugen discussed some of the issues affecting the industry and the opportunities for partnership between government and the business community to effectively deliver on infrastructure development, one of the key drivers of economic growth. Sugen was joined by guest speaker Layton Leseane, South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) project manager in the Design and Construction Division in the Northern Region. A civil technologist with 23 years’ experience, Layton discussed SANRAL’s operations and touched on expenditure projections, transformation, funding projections, challenges and interventions. Officially opened by CESA CEO Chris Campbell, the Gauteng and North West Webinar was brought to a close by CESA Gauteng Branch chair, Gift Mphefu.</p>

<p>On Tuesday, 7 July it was the Free State and Northern Cape branches’ turn to be hosted by president Sugen who once again presented his presentation titled ‘2020 - A time for reflection, renewal and regeneration’. The guest speaker was Free State Department of Police, Roads and Transport acting chief director, roads infrastructure, Werner van Wyk. In his presentation, Werner discussed current and future infrastructure projects and their execution. Werner also talked about the current status of network, future workload, quality of engineering services, and engineering during Covid-19.</p>
<p>The presidential webinars present a great opportunity for stakeholders to discuss issues affecting the industry, with more people equipped to participate as a result of being held online. </p>
